Halloween 08

The snow held off for another Halloween Trick or Treat evening. Seth is Indiana Jones and Lil Stinker is a cute pumpkin. I had face paint for a 5 o'clock shadow, but Seth said that having a beard would be ridiculous. He had an inservice day from school so I had to endure an hourly update on when we were to head out for candy and once again we went to about 20 houses and Seth proclaimed he had enough candy and wanted to head home - whose child is this?

Pin the Tail on Syd

So what do you think of my fast thinking and creativeness. Told Beth, the fabulous graphic designer, to print out a picture and she (with Lindsey, the fantastic marketing extrodinaire) said e-mail it to Kinkos and have them make a poster. Those marketing people have all the quick and creative ideas. Well, that takes my idea up a notch and wa-la. The winner was Mikayla who put it right on the nose.

Only now I am thinking of having them do a more quality picture so I can frame this great pic.

Oh, the madness.

Weekend fun

Sydney found her comfort zone away from the bouncy building because she could not stand when everyone was jumping around. She managed to have fun in the other areas and sometimes just wandered around. She was about wiped out on the way home and took about 2 minutes to fall asleep

Can you tell who is having more fun? the kids or the moms? I got in there and it was quite a leg workout, maybe our club should consider a new piece of equipment.

Glen built the backyard playground and added on the swings. The funny thing is I have posted this swing on craigslist at least 3 times and not one person called on it. It is one of those times you can say things happen for a reason. So we finally have something to attach it to and you can hear Sydney saying "weeeee." One of the best sounds is laughter from a child.

Happy Birthday to Meeeeeee

My wonderful and loving husband had this all prepared for me when Seth and I came home from Tball tonight. It's a chocolate affair for sure - box of chocolates and a chocolate ganache chocolate cake from The Flying Dutchman- very sinful, and I LOVE IT.

Can you see the most delightful layer of chocolate ganache bliss? Sorry pops, this won't last until you get here - but maybe we should get a fresh one for your arrival.
Thanks, Honey

Memorial

"Today, as in the past, there are problems that must be solved and challenges that must be met. We can tackle them with our full strength and creativity only because we are free to work them out in our own way. We owe this freedom of choice and action to those men and women in uniform who have served this nation and its interests in time of need. In particular, we are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free."

Mom's Day

The Images of Mother
4 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE ~ My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE ~ Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned
18 YEARS OF AGE ~ Mom, you think you are so hip.
25 YEARS OF AGE ~ Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE ~ Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE ~ Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

A bitter sweet day for me. A day I get to hug my kids and hear them giggle, but also a day for me to think about my mom and how she would have adored her grandchildren and possibly share a few laughs about raising kids. When this day comes around I feel a bit cheated because we went through the tough growing up part of life but we are missing out on the fun living as friends part of life. Miss ya, mom.

I never gave much thought to being a mom. I grew up playing sports, did good in school, went to college, came home and got my career going. When I met Glen, my life and future went to a whole different level. When we decided to start a family it seemed like the next thing to do and it felt right. Seth and Sydney come along and there is no manual on parenting - you just want to keep them safe, entertained, provide opportunities, let them learn, sometimes just hope for the best and at the end of the day when they tell you they love you - you just melt and think I am doing something right.
